Everyone recalls the opening day starter drama last year. Reminder: Matt Harvey was the game 2 starter at Citi Field in order to ensure a larger gate.

That was the story line. The irony is that Jacob deGrom deserves the Opening day nod. He is the better pitcher and teammate right now. You can even make the case Noah Syndergaard is your #2 followed by Harvey, then Steven Matz and Big Sexy, Bartolo Colon.

I have to admit Harvey stepped up in the playoffs, but we had to endure some self-inflicted drama from his agent and his own response to the innings limit drama which showed Harvey’s true colors and they are not orange and blue. I continue to have a love-hate relationship with the Dark Knight because he clearly has a me-first attitude.

Harvey appeared to even push the Captain to the brink of being controversial with the whole innings limit issue, and I’m sure the distraction didn’t go over well with the rest of the clubhouse.

With all that being said, let’s see how Harvey reacts to being third in line, assuming the Dark Knight doesn’t talk TC into being the opening day starter. If he is the third starter, it will be in front of a full house at Citi field and should feed that ego.
