*Only includes Mets, Giants, Cardinals.

Few notes:

  • The 1st Wild Card spot is for home field advantage.
  • If two teams are tied for the SECOND Wild Card spot, they will play each other (game 163) to determine who plays 1st WC team.
  • Tiebreaker home field advantage: Mets over Giants. Cardinals over Giants. **Cardinals over Mets

**Not yet determined: The team with the best record vs. their respective division will have the tiebreaker; Mets are currently 33-31 vs. NL East, Cardinals are currently 36-30 vs. NL Central. If both teams end up with the same record vs. their respective division, then Mets get the tiebreaker.

Two-Way Tie For 1st Wild Card Spot:

  1. If Mets and Giants end up tied for the 1st Wild Card spot: The Mets and Giants will play the Wild Card game at Citi Field, because Mets have the tiebreaker over Giants.
  2. If Mets and Cardinals end up tied for the 1st Wild Card spot: The Mets and Cardinals will play the Wild Card game at Busch Stadium(see ** above), because Cardinals have the tiebreaker over Mets.**
  3. 🙁 If Giants and Cardinals end up tied for the 1st Wild Card spot: The Giants and Cardinals will play the Wild Card game at Busch Stadium, because Cardinals have the tiebreaker over Giants.

Two-Way Tie For 2nd Wild Card Spot:

  1. If Mets end up in 1st Wild Card spot, and Giants and Cardinals end up tied for the 2nd Wild Card spot: The Giants and Cardinals will play one game (game 163) in St. Louis, to determine who plays the Mets at Citi Field in the Wild Card game.
  2. If Giants end up in 1st Wild Card spot, and Mets and Cardinals end up tied for the 2nd Wild Card spot: The Mets and Cardinals will play one game (game 163) in St. Louis**(see ** above), to determine who plays the Giants at AT&T Park in the Wild Card game.
  3. If Cardinals end up in 1st Wild Card spot, and Mets and Giants end up tied for the 2nd Wild Card spot: The Mets and Giants will play one game (game 163) in New York to determine who plays the Cardinals at Busch Stadium in the Wild Card game.

**Three-Way Tie For Wild Card:

**If the Mets, Cardinals, and Giants all finish the season with the same record: The Mets and Cardinals will play one game at Citi Field, with the winner of that game clinching a Wild Card spot, and the loser facing the Giants to decide the other Wild Card spot. (The loser of the 1st tiebreaker game will have home field advantage vs. the Giants). Then home field advantage for the Wild Card game will be determined based on the rules (shown above) for “Two-Way Tie For 1st Wild Card Spot”. This scenario would likely cause some dates of playoff games to be moved around.
